More Information

Noël for Organ is an arrangement of the second movement of George Whitefield Chadwick’s Symphonic Sketches for Orchestra, which was published in 1907. This organ version was created in November and December 2023 and is based on a choral version of the work I completed in May of the same year. I have long loved this work and think it is one of the best American orchestral works of the early 20th century, and I always listen to this beautiful slow movement at Christmas time. Additionally, like my choral version, this organ version cuts out a substantial section in the middle of the original version which I thought wouldn’t work well for voices or organ.
